The home achieves this strong rating through the application of building technologies including  structural insulated panels (SIPS)  which increase the energy efficiency and the strength of the home, VOC-free adhesives and paint,  renewable environmentally friendly floors and carpeting, quartz countertops with Microban antimicrobial surfacing, LED lighting, native drought- resistant landscaping. a whole-house air filtration system and a high-efficiency 16 seer heat pump.
The NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines were written by a group of builders, researchers, environmental experts, and designers to provide guidance for builders engaged in or interested in green building products and practices for residential design, development, and construction. An independent evaluation scores homes across seven categories including Lot Design, Resource Efficiency, Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality, Homeowner Education and Global Impact – resulting in a score of bronze, silver or gold.
